Just when...

Just when you think you're getting a little ahead financially, something happens that costs exactly the amount you feel you have to spare. Dishwasher went out yesterday! Of course it did. I checked the warranty which proved to be dead. In exactly one month, the dishwasher will be two years old. It came with a set along with a stove and refrigerator.

Monday is our 31st anniversary and as bad as I hate the dishwasher needing replaced, at least I will get to get out and go somewhere this weekend. Even if it is just to go there and back indubitably, without doing anything else. The dishwasher will no doubt, and should be, my anniversary gift so whoohoo---I will actually get a gift for an event.

The dishwasher going out stinks, but it is the catalyst for getting to go out to a store and getting an anniversary gift is not so bad. One bad thing made two good things, things that would not have happened had the dishwasher not went out. So it's a great day!

Guess not...Jr. doesn't want to go anywhere with me and he doesn't seem to be in a hurry to replace the dishwasher. Nothing is stopping me from going out and doing something, anything, on my own I guess. I will make it a great day even if it's by myself!

God help us in the U.S...

There was another shooting yesterday in Oregon at Umpqua Community College. Another hate crime toward Christians. He asked each victim if they were Christian or not. If they said, "yes", he shot them in the head....if they said, "no", he shot them in the leg. He killed nine people and law enforcement killed him. Dear Lord, the end times are here, everything you said would happen is now happening.

What an adventure I had this week. I had to go to a training in Charleston yesterday, 10/1/15. Parent training was scheduled for Oceana Middle on Wednesday night, I got out of there around 7:00 pm. Drove in the pouring rain, in the dark, to Southridge Hampton Inn. Jr. got upset with me because Mom knew I was there before he did. When I got in the room around 9:20 after checking in and opened my suitcase, SeaBreeze had spilled all over everything and I had to wear my same clothes from that day to the training the next day. If that is not enough, I did not notice there was a make up remover packet on the sink and I forgot to take vaseline with me which is what I normally use to take off my eye make up. What possessed me to do this, I don't know. However, I wet a tissue, put soap on it and started rubbing my eye with it. Of course soap got all in my eye really bad, burned like no bodies business --- hurt so bad. I rinsed, rinsed, and rinsed some more. I seriously thought it was certainly going to be swollen when I woke up. Thank goodness it wasn't. Oh yes, one more thing, Jr called my cell several times and I didn't even know it because the phone wasn't ringing. Of course he thought I wasn't answering for some weird reason on purpose, so here we go again with him. I checked every setting I could think to check and he refused to try one more time so I could see if it would ring. So I asked Kristin to call me and it rang just fine. The night before at church I turned every sound I could find off because Jayna was playing with my phone, I think I had done something to make the phone not ring. But I must have fixed it because Kristin's call came through. Shew!!

The next morning I left the hotel at 7:30, in my day old clothes, to the training downtown Charleston at the WV Center for Professional Development.
1-could not find the parking garage and drove around an hour until I found it 8:30
2-finally got parked and walked for another hour to find the building 9:30 (which was 3 minutes from the parking garage by the way)
3-got on the elevator that has two doors that I did not notice, pressed 2, the elevator stopped and I kept pressing 2, open door, and was just getting ready to press the stuck bell when this little young lady finally got my attention behind me that the door was open on that side
4-I was late, but it was an informative training
5-leave the training at 4:00, walked with other ladies to the parking garage in about 3 minutes (thank God)
6-my friends went to their car and I could not find my car. I walked until about 4:30 around in the parking garage trying to find my car.
7-had 911 typed into my phone when a lady drove by that had been in my training, Kim. Kim stopped and I told her I couldn't find my car and did she think it was alright to call 911 for being lost.
8-Kim told me to get in and we would drive around until we found my car, which we did in an area I could have sworn I had passed a zillion times already
9-finally get home and Jr. is now upset yet again because I sent messages as to where I was through the day instead of calling him. Never have been able to please that man, no matter what, in any situation.
10-he finally decided not to be mad anymore, thank you Lord!

Anyway, I walked two miles this morning and have taken a shower. I now need to dry my hair and go to Baileysville. It looks as if there is going to be rain all weekend, but what a great time to watch Monumental and Second Hand Lion on Netflix. Plus, I will have leisure time to do that, read, study and work out. Alright, sounds like a great plan and I am so ready! God is amazingly great!!!

Here we go again....at age 55!

Well, it's now September 30, 2015 and here I go again trying to get myself at least a little bit more fit than I am. My cholesterol was 242 about 6 months ago. I take red yeast rice and fish oil, off and on, to work on lowering it. Gaining weight I'm certain has not helped the matter. I am too ashamed to put a before picture of myself on here, although I don't think people really read this. Glad of that actually, because I want to use this as sort of a self reflective journal. This is not just a self improvement of the body. My goal is to walk closer with God (spiritual), walk, or move in any way, physically for my physical health, and attempt to build my knowledge of the world around me (mind).

List toward my goal of getting more fit inside and out (spirit, body, and mind):
*Have my daily talk with God. He is my everything!
*Nightly bible reading
*Goal of reading two spiritual trade books this year
*Wednesday night bible study (will not be there tonight due to a work trip to Charleston)

*Today makes the third day I have walked.
*Lost three pounds during the past two days. (water of course, but a big ole YAY!)
*Ate scrambled egg sandwich for breakfast, Ooops...three peanut butter cookies--movin' on!

*Get a book from Mom that I know will be uplifting

Trying to Be Healthy is Difficult for Me!!

I want to be as healthy as possible. I have several inner voices that talk to me. One knows what steps I should take to be healthy and it never fails to fill me in on the process. Eat protein, veggies and fruits---exercise regularly----works every time.

The other knows just how tasty and delicious food is, especially salty snacks and sweets. Knows how in the morning my bed gets unbelievably warm and luxurious, it's completely beyond me how the snuggly comfy bed I lie down in at night can become so much more so about fifteen or twenty minutes before I have to rise and shine for the day. Same inner voice that says, "You can exercise later, you're too busy right now, you don't have time to shower and get ready for work if you get all sweaty, way too tired to exercise after putting in a day at work, or this TV show sure is good why don't you put oxygenating your body off until it goes off?" Next thing you know, it's bedtime, too late.

A year and three months later………

Life is good! We have a new addition to our growing family in lil miss Jayna. Kristin and Aaron have gone and entered the world of parenthood to the most adorable baby girl. Jayna Leigh Hatfield arrived to this world November 15, 2012. Weighing in at seven pounds, she brought delight, excitement, joy and all those positively jubilant emotions with her. God has blessed us with a tiny angel. I had the pleasure of babysitting last Friday evening while her parents went out for the first time in three months. This was absolutely one of the best times of my life. I had her for three and a half hours by myself. We played, ate, slept, played some more, took a bath, swung a little, sang a little, cooed a little and ended up asleep again. There are no words to explain the enjoyment this child has brought to my life already.

Hayden is going to be five years old on March 29th, I cannot believe we have had him for almost five years. He has such a good attitude about everything. Junior and Hayden were riding down the road one day and out of the blue Hayden said, “Papaw.” When Junior asked what, he said, “I’m happy.” He is rambunctious and loves to actively play, play, play……like most five year olds (especially five year old boys). It’s his attitude and demeanor that should be emulated. Sweet as they come.

I know I have painted a picturesque view of my life right now; well it’s probably because I’m only talking about my grandchildren, lol. No, seriously, God has blessed me to the highest degree with my family. Of course we have battles and trials, but he is always there to see us through. I Thessalonians 5:18 In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Until next time………..

It's Been a Long Time

Looks like I'm going to try this yet once again. I will do my best to stick with blogging this time, at least periodically. Changes have been running rampant in my life since the last time I posted on a personal blog. My baby girl, Kristin, has almost been married now for two years. New Year's Eve will make exactly two years since I gained a son-in-law. So far that has been going amazingly well. I love my son-in-law, Aaron. But more importantly, my daughter seems to be so very stable and happy. God has blessed us all immeasurably.

Another huge change is the way my grandson has grown in the past two years, no pun intended. Hayden is a good sixty pounds at three years old. He is a happy, lovable, active, funny and cute as a button boy. See........
